DOCTRINAL STATEMENT
SCRIPTURE We believe in the verbal, plenary, (all) inspiration of the Scriptures and believe them to be inerrant in the original autographs. Matthew 5:17; II Timothy 1:16; II Peter 1:20,21; Hebrews 4:12. GOD There is only one living and true God and He reveals Himself as Father, Son and Holy Spirit with distinct, personal attributes with no division in essence or being. John 1:1-14; Hebrews 1:1-3, I John 5:7,8. GOD THE FATHER God the Father reigns with providential care over all of His universe and creatures. He’s all powerful, all knowing and loving and all-wise. Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 6:9-15. GOD THE SON Jesus Christ, God the Son, was conceived by the Holy Spirit and was born of the virgin Mary. He was tempted in every way yet without sin. He was fully God and fully man, one Person with two natures. He atoned for every believers sin by His substitutionary death on the cross. He was buried in a tomb and rose again the third day and is now seated in glory at the Father’s right hand in a glorified body. He will return in power and glory to judge the world. Isaiah 7:14; Matthew 1:18-23; Luke 1:35; Philippians 2:5; II John 19:15,18; John 20:1-20; II Corinthians 5:21; I Peter 2:24; I Thessalonians 4:14-18. GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT God, the Holy Spirit, inspired holy men of old to write The Scriptures, He always glorifies Christ. He convicts men of sin; of righteousness And judgment and is instrumental in man’s salvation. At the moment of regeneration He baptizes each believer into the Body of Christ and begins to dwell in the believer. He teaches each believer in the Scriptures and empowers the believer for service. II Peter 1:21; John 4:24; John 14:16,17,26; John 15:26; John 16:7-14; Acts 1:8; Romans 8:9-11; II Timothy 2:15. THE CHURCH A New Testament Church is a local body of baptized believers who follow the two ordinances of baptism and the Lord’s Supper. It is an autonomous, self governing body operating through democratic processes under the Lordship of Christ. The scriptural offices are pastor and deacons. Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:40-47; 6:1-7; 13:1-3 MISSIONS Every Believer has the privilege and duty to reach out to others to win them to salvation. Jesus commanded that the gospel message should be preached everywhere to seek to reach the lost. Matthew 2:18-20; Acts 1:8; Mark 16:15. |
